MOZART DAY

More than 20 operas, nearly 40 symphonies, 30 piano concertos and numerous other instrumental pieces. And the person behind such impressive statistics, a composer who still enjoys enormous popularity to this day? Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

Naturally! This inexhaustible repertoire inspired András Keller and Concerto Budapest to develop (yet another) high volume event: the orchestra pay tribute to the grand master of music with an all-day concert series, the first this season, with the intention to set a precedent. Mozart Day running from early morning to the evening hours transports the audience into the world of this supreme figure of Viennese Classicism. Many of the finest works from the composer are interpreted by outstanding soloists, chamber formations and symphony orchestras playing in the music chambers of the Liszt Academy. We can welcome on stage in solo roles such artists as one of the most gifted Scandinavian violinists and artistic director of Arctic Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra Henning Kraggerud, teacher at the London Guildhall School of Music Alexander Janiczek, multiple prize winners Andrea Rost, Gergely Bogányi and Dénes Várjon. Orfeo Chamber Orchestra headed by György Vashegyi and Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra are also involved in this not-to-be-missed event.
