The bounteous and exciting season ticket series at Müpa Budapest is the promise of a meeting with favourite composers and performers, as well as works and young artists who are most worthy of our attention. On the first occasion, Zoltán Rácz is ready with a somewhat surprising pairing of Bach, Bernstein and Penderecki works, on the second evening – starring Kristóf Baráti and Péter Eötvös – Debussy works feature alongside compositions by our great Hungarian contemporary. In the third and fourth concerts, Gábor Takács-Nagy moves on towards Romanticism and Bartók: in the former as partner of the rising French pianist star Lucas Debargue playing the Saint-Saëns concerto, in the latter alongside András Keller in the dazzling principal part of Bartók’s Violin Concerto No. 2. For the final concert in this season ticket series, the ensemble’s music director is conductor hosting the superb István Várdai, soloist of the Shostakovich-Stravinsky programme.
