Late night Premiere with László Vidovszky

László Vidovszky Break
Conductor András Keller

Concerto Budapest’s late evening Premiere series closes under the direction of András Keller and with a performance of a ‘fresh out of the box’ composition finalized in 2017. The work Break composed for full orchestra by László Vidovszky will be performed, in the process uncovering the latest piece of the composer’s creative world, who played a key role in the Budapest New Music Studio, the number one workshop for experimental music in Hungary. The latest work by this master born in 1944, who is currently resident and teaching in Pécs in southern Hungary, promises to be all the more interesting because Vidovszky’s willingness to experiment remains undiminished. The driving force that he expounded on in an interview 20 years ago is still characteristic of him:
“…the compulsion of discovery about which Heisenberg gave Columbus’s travels as an example: the true step into the unknown is not when somebody decides that by going West they will reach India, but rather when half of their provisions have run out and they don’t turn back, instead they keep on, not even knowing where they are going. Those possibilities that in the course of my music studies brought me to such moments always particularly attracted me.
