This season ticket series showcases the virtually inexhaustible wealth of Hungarian music that has matured into classics, as well as its contemporary, well-known values and those awaiting discovery (or even rediscovery), the four concerts of which are arranged once again in the fitting venue of Pest Vigadó. This year’s programme running from Ferenc Liszt to Levente Gyöngyösi (born: 1975) not only parades superb home-grown artists, in particular András Keller, Zoltán Rácz and Tamás Vásáry, but we also hear from the young British violinist Savitri Grier and Dutch instrumentalist (although of Hungarian extraction through her mother) Gwendolyn Masin. Folk music and the world of Hungaricums take centre stage in the other half of the series, care of Muzsikás Ensemble and guests, folk singer Mária Petrás, and on the fourth evening an authentic recital by violinist Lajos Sárközi and Gypsy Band.
